The 6th-grade classes welcomed a special guest: Peggy Engelmann, former colleague and founder of Fair Winds Collective. She shared her inspiring story of transporting fair trade organic products across the Atlantic by sailing ship. The students explored topics of sustainable trade, life aboard a tall ship, and the environmental challenges facing our oceans today. Peggyโs message was clear: protecting the seas means rethinking how we transport goods. The visit ended on a sweet noteโwith a taste of fairly sailed, organic chocolate.

Deep in Colombia, the KaapKargo crew explored organic coffee and cacao farms, connecting with farmers and learning about sustainable, fair trade practices. Sailing aboard Ide Min under the Mission Zero initiative, in partnership with Fair Winds Collective, they combine wind-powered transport with ethical sourcing, creating direct, transparent, and meaningful trade experiences.
Celebrating Eco-Friendly Shipping: Avontuur’s Successful Arrival
The sailing vessel Avontuur returned safely from voyage #13, carrying fair-trade coffee and cocoa across the Atlantic. Welcomed by the Fair Winds Collective, the crew celebrated sustainable trade and emission-free transport, proving that eco-friendly shipping and global cooperation can unite continents through respect for people, planet, and tradition.
Ide Min’s Voyage: A Journey Towards Sustainable Trade
The Ide Min arrived in Amsterdam carrying cacao, rum, and coffee under Kaap Kargoโs banner. Welcomed by the Fair Winds Collective, the voyage celebrated sustainable and ethical trade. More than commerce, it symbolized respect for nature, fair treatment of producers, and the shared pursuit of an equitable, environmentally responsible future.
